Mr Luigi Bezzera was an Italian mechanic and innovator.
Luigi Bezzera patented the first commercial espresso coffee machine in the year 1901 directly or indirectly paving the way to the creation of the Italian Espresso, Caffe Latte and Cappuccino that we all enjoy today. Below is the sample of the original patent No 726,793 filed back in 1902.
The first ever commercially available coffee machine named 'tipo gigante con doppio rubentto' being on displayed at the Milan International Fair in the year 1906.
Followed by the 'Vittoria Alata' whcih is an iconic machine that we can still see a reproduction today under the name Bezzera Golden Eagle, or Bezzera Verticle Eagle Gold
The major of Milan Italy granted the Bezzera permission to use the Milan Coat of Arms, and rename the street 'Luigi Bezzera Street'. This is as appreciation and thanks to The Bezzera family for their immense contribution to Italian culture and bringing the Espresso culture to the everyone in the world. (Also thanks GoogleMaps)
The modernized factory is still located on the 'Luigi Bezzera Street'; still run, managed and operated by the Bezzera family until today.
In an era of cheap-mass production, Bezzera differentiates itself by having master artisan hand crafting each of its Bezzera machines. The picture below shows master artisans hand crafting and hand building your coffee machine on the main factory floor
